Getting ‘privacy protection’ apps on your iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch
This guide is for jailbroken Apple devices
Getting
privacy on iPhone is almost like a dream, without locking it completely, we
can’t stop others to get restricted access for other users when they are trying
to enter specific apps or photo albums.
Security and privacy apps are actually available
through AppStore, but unfortunately, none of them are completely free so they
only offer a very limited number of pictures and videos to be stored safe.[UPDATE]
After weeks of searching for a solution to find a 100% free way to protect pictures and videos, I have finally found the right app.
It's (ePhotoChest) and it's available through iTunes. So, having a jailbroken iPhone is not necessary.
Download it from here.

[Advantages]

The main
problem occurs when a user unlocks his device, the auto-lock doesn’t always
help if the device is being used soon enough after passing a password lock, and
if an iPhone is unlocked it’s completely accessible. Many users prefer not to
lock their devices with passwords; it makes their device look mulish and
undesirable for a quick use.
Having a password protection app also organizes
files, pictures and videos that you consider private, it’s sometimes hard restrict
a friend or a family member to use your iPhone and if it’s unlocked then you’re
device is completely exposed. On the other hand, having a privacy protection
app is an excellent choice for non-embarrassment.
Why Apple can’t offer their users
a native, free or built-in ways to protect users’ privacy?
We are not
criticizing Apple or anyone; we’re here for a solution, the reason behind the
lack of free privacy protection apps is business. Selling privacy protection
apps on AppStore is actually profitable for both Apple and the developer, because
these apps are not free.
Is there a way to protect my
privacy on my iPhone/iPad/iPod touch for free?
I can’t say ‘Yes’ with sureness. You
cannot get any free privacy on your iPhone if your device is in factory state
(un-jailbroken), jailbreaking your device is the only solution, and thanks to
the generous and brilliant developers you can actually jailbreak freely and
easily in minutes, in your own home.
Now the whole situation is changed with ePhotoChest app. http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/ephotochest/id305329121?mt=8

Ok, now I have a jailbroken
iPhone/iPad/iPod touch. What’s next?
What you should do now is installing
an app from Cydia called ‘Installous’. Installous is an app that downloads free
and cracked AppStore apps. To download Installous, first thing is adding a
source that contains the app ‘Installous’ by going to “Manage” tab and then
“Sources”. In the Sources page, tap “Edit” and then “Add”, in the box write the
following address (http://) without brackets of course. Tap Add and wait for
the packages to be downloaded.
How to install and use “Installous”?
Now you have Installous in Cydia but
you haven’t downloaded it yet, go to the search page and search for
‘Installous’, tap on it and go to Install. Launch Installous, go to its own
search page and type (Photo video, protect, secure…) or anything or any
AppStore app that you find interesting to protect your data.
Installing apps on Installous is
slightly different than what you think. After tapping an app to install,
Installous will offer you several websites that contains the app (.ipa files),
choose any of the available websites and then follow the web pages in the
website until you reach the download link. Tap the final link or “download
button” to begin downloading.
After the download is complete, go to
the “Downloads” page in Installous, there you will find the downloaded app. Tap
the app’s icon and choose “Install”, after the installation is complete you’ll
find the app in the Home Screen ready to use.
How to sync “Installous” apps with
iTunes?
Many users encounter problems syncing
Installous apps with iTunes. The problem is in the firmware and the iOS version
in the device. From the same source that you have downloaded ‘Installous’
you’ll find an app named “AppSync”, the app’s name comes with several digits
that indicates the firmware or iOS version compatible for your device. For example,
if you have an iPhone with iOS 5 with firmware 3.1 you should find the exact
same indicators for the AppSync app such as (AppSync iOS 5 firmware 3). Notice
that usually the firmware version is displayed in the details section rather
that the app’s name.
My iPhone was unable to sync Installous
apps with iTunes, even with AppSync, What do I do?
Seems you haven’t found the correct
firmware and iOS version for AppSync, at this point you can’t do anything to
fix your problem. But you can access your cracked apps through iTunes, with the
(File sharing) page under the “Apps” window.
For
example, if you have a privacy protection app you may add your files to it
without syncing. Go to the File sharing page and scroll to your app, in the
small window beside it, you can drop the pictures/videos you want and then tap
“Import” in the app on your iPhone.
